Custom software, AI and cloud Koen Calliauw, Belgium

I turn complex workflows into reliable software

From first sketch to production. I help teams combine product design and custom development with AI integration and cloud infrastructure, and I stay with the work until it runs.

From problem to running system

Projects go wrong where one phase hands over to the next. I can do every phase myself, so nothing gets lost in between.

  1. Define the problem

I map the workflow with the people who do the work, then write down what the software must do and what it can leave out.

What you get: Define the problem
    • A map of the current workflow
    • A written problem statement
    • A scoped first release
  2. Design

Screens, data model and structure, designed together. I decide where AI earns its place; you click a prototype before the build.

    What you get: Design
    • A clickable prototype
    • An architecture and data model
    • A plan in small releases
  3. Build and test

I build in small releases that you try as they land, with tests written alongside the code. TypeScript and React, Go or Rust, or PHP and Vue if you already run them.

What you get: Build and test
    • Working software, release by release
    • Automated tests
    • Code you own, with its history
  4. Run in production

I set up the hosting as code and add monitoring before launch, then stay on to keep it running, on AWS, GCP or your own Linux servers.

What you get: Run in production
    • Infrastructure as code
    • A deployment pipeline
    • Monitoring, alerts and runbooks

Three areas I know in depth

  • AI and agent systems

AI that does a real job in your workflow: review, drafting, sorting. With clear limits, logging and a person in the loop.

Seen in AI review system for code changes

  • Cloud infrastructure and reliability

Cloud infrastructure that stays up. AWS and GCP, Terraform and Docker, with monitoring that tells you before your users do.

Seen in Game server admin and dashboards

  • UX and product architecture

Software shaped around how people work. I design screens and system structure as one piece, and fix the flow underneath.

Seen in Platforms for the equine sector

Custom web apps, internal tools and operational dashboards sit underneath all three, and are the core of most projects.

Three kinds of software I build, and the stages each one covered.

An AI review system for code changes

    The problem
Code review takes senior time, and routine checks are the first thing to slip when a team is busy.
    What I built
A system that checks each change against the team's own rules and comments where developers work. People still decide what gets merged.

Stages and stack to be confirmed

    1. Define, covered
    2. Design, covered
    3. Build, covered
    4. Run, not covered

    Stack: TypeScript, Go, Docker

    Game server admin and dashboards

    The problem
Running servers by hand means shell sessions, guesswork and hearing about problems late.
    What I built
An admin tool to deploy, update and restart game servers, and dashboards that show health and usage at a glance.

Stages and stack to be confirmed

    2. Design, not covered
    3. Build, covered

Why one person

No handoffs
You talk to me directly. The person who hears your problem designs the screens, writes the code and gets the alert at night.
Scope that fits
I plan releases one engineer can build and run well. If your project needs a larger team, I tell you at the start.
